Singles Awareness Day (or Singles Appreciation Day) is celebrated on February 15 each year. It is an unofficial holiday celebrated by single people. It serves as a complement to Valentine’s Day for people who are single, and not married or in a romantic relationship.

Bachelors Day, as it was first named, started as a men’s celebration in 1993 at Nanjing University. Despite there being lots of stories to its birth, the most broadly accepted idea is that four single men who dormed together at Nanjing University were working out ways to break the monotony of single people’s lives.
