Plot Overview
Wick was tasked with killing Santino’s sister Gianna, so that Santino could have her seat at the high table. Once the job was complete, Santino essentially betrayed John by sending an army after him in a manufactured attempt to avenge Gianna’s death.
Winston’s Actions
Why did Winston shoot John Wick? If suspicions are correct that Winston is still trustworthy, he may have shot John to persuade the High Table to “reconsecrate” the Continental so it may once again become a safe zone. At the same time, Winston’s motivation for helping John may be so he can enlist his skills to fight back against the High Table.
