Rules for Rest Periods in Tennis
- Players are allowed a 90-second rest between end changes.
- Extended to two minutes at the end of a set.
- No rest at the first changeover of the next set.
Foot Faults in Tennis
- Rule: Cannot step on the line during serves.
- Any contact with the baseline or imaginary extension of the center mark is a foot fault.
- Remarkable that a foot fault might decide a major match.
Tennis Etiquette and Faults
- Etiquette: Call a ball out as soon as it lands out.
- Exception: On clay courts, you can check the ball mark before calling it out.
- Three different faults in tennis:
- Missing the ball entirely on a serve
- Illegal release of the ball while serving
- Ball touching an object outside the match or the server’s partner immediately after a serve.
