Is has had past tense?

Explanation of Present Perfect Tense

Has had (or generally have/has + Past Participle) is a form of Present Perfect (Simple) tense. You use Present Perfect tense to talk about past events which are already over but have influence on the present.

Subject-Verb Agreement: Has, Have, Had

  • Has is used with he, she, it and singular nouns.
  • Have is used with I, we, you, they, and plural nouns.
  • Had is used for past tense.

Choosing "Has" or "Have"

  • The subject "Al and Sue" is third person plural (the same as "they"), so use "have."
  • "Friends" is plural, so the plural of the verb is required: “have.”
  • The correct form is a country has. This is because country is a singular noun, and needs the singular form of the verb “have”.

Present Perfect Continuous and Past Perfect Continuous

“has been” and “have been” both are used in present perfect continuous. While “had been” is used in past perfect continuous. “Has been” is more commonly used for third person, while “have been” can be used for both first person and second person. It can also be used as a plural form for third person.
