IQ and Reading
Does reading increase IQ?
It increases intelligence. Exposure to vocabulary through reading (particularly reading children’s books) not only leads to higher scores on reading tests but also higher scores on general tests of intelligence for children. Stronger early reading skills may mean higher intelligence later in life.
Hereditary IQ
Yes, IQ is largely hereditary. If you come from a family that has inherited high IQs, you probably will as well.
