Oxygen (O2)
- A diatomic, colourless, odourless, tasteless gas with bond angles of 180 degrees.
- Lewis structure comprises two oxygen atoms connected in a pair.
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2)
- A reactive oxygen species and the simplest peroxide, a compound having an oxygen-oxygen single bond.
- Enzymes that use or decompose hydrogen peroxide are classified as peroxidases.
Comparison: H2O2 and 2OH-
- Both H2O2 and 2OH- are chemical species with two hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms.
- H2O2 is Hydrogen Peroxide with a neutral net charge.
