Pre-admission involves a day of exams, consultations, assessments, and administrative procedures to ensure fitness for surgery. The entire process typically takes about 7 hours.
Unless otherwise specified, preoperative tests may include a complete blood count, blood urea nitrogen, blood sugar, liver function tests, coagulation tests, and fibrinogen.
The gynecologist may recommend taking a pain reliever half an hour before the procedure. There is no fasting or specific pharmacological preparation required. Antibiotics may be prescribed for patients with heart valve conditions.
