Perché la modalità provvisoria su Windows richiede così tanto tempo per l'avvio?

Mi piacciono entrambe le risposte date finora, e sono fortemente d'accordo con la risposta offerta da Kenneth Miller. Ci vuole molto tempo per l'avvio in modalità provvisoria, e questo è effettivamente dovuto al fatto che il sistema deve caricare driver generici, al contrario di quelli proprietari.

Immagino che la mia preoccupazione sia cosa costituisce esattamente "molto tempo"? Senza offesa, ma è un termine piuttosto soggettivo. Sono tre minuti? 30? 300? La modalità provvisoria richiede più tempo del già interminabile processo di avvio standard.

La domanda è: la quantità di tempo che il safe boot impiega per avviare il sistema è un periodo di tempo anormalmente lungo?

I thought of trying to emulate a safe boot on my Windows 10 VM (virtual machine), but then I realized that the virtual nature of the Windows OS makes comparisons very difficult between safe boots on a VM vs. safe boots on a machine running Windows 10 “on bare metal”/as the host OS.

So I can’t tell you how long a safe boot “should” take, at least not from first hand experience. I seem to recall that if a Windows 10 on a machine like mine (see below)

should take about 2–3 minutes to boot up, and a safe boot (with networking) should take about 3–5 minutes, but again, this is from memory.

So my best guess is that if the safe boot is taking more than, say, 5 minutes, you have a problem with the computer; but even that won’t tell one if the problem is hardware or software (operating system).
