What is the difference between Qualcomm Board and Model?

There are many variants for same chipset (SoC).

These numbers signifies how they are different.

MSM - Mobile system/soc Modem: SoC chipset with all features like GPU, CPU, Modem, audo etc.

This can be used as full featured mobile chip

MDM - Mobile Data Modem

This has only the modem, it doesn't have any audio, video or gpu parts.

This is used as a modem only chip, used in iPhones for modem, datacards etc..

APQ - application processors

This doesn't have modem features, used for non modem application like smart tv or smartphone within other modems

Now comes YXZZ series number.

Y - current series number, 6,7,8,9

X - Determines modem category

0 - No modem

2 - 2G modem

6 - 3G modem

9 - LTE modem

ZZ - major class number.

Più alto è questo numero più caratteristiche (oltre al modem)

Prendiamo MSM8926 - è un SoC mobile con modem LTE

MDM9225 - è un SoC modem

APQ8064 - è un processore di applicazioni

Ora ogni chip prodotto avrà tutte le caratteristiche, ci sono alcuni fusibili/difetti di fabbricazione.

Una volta che i fusibili sono bruciati quelle caratteristiche non saranno accessibili.

Così producono MSM8926, fanno saltare il fusibile che disabilita il modem LTE, diventa 3G o MSM8626 - questo è ciò che ti dice il numero della scheda.
