Definitely

Google Play Services is essential for almost any google app or service to work.

So you will need to give up using any or all google services. Yup, you lose sync too.

But the savings are enormous. Savings in RAM, storage and battery. Google play services is notorious for battery drain and several wakelocks.

Microsoft has your back though.
