How to send an SMS to a mobile number through Gmail
In order too send a text from Gmail, you'll need two pieces of information:
- The recipient's full phone number (10 digits for the US)
- The recipient phone carrier (AT&T, Verizon, TMobile, etc.).
Follow the steps below to send text:
- Sign in to Gmail account at gmail.com
- Click Compose on the left side of your screen to create a new message
- Enter the phone number in the to: field (full 10 digit number for US) followed by the SMS gateway listing (the “domain name” for the carrier). For example [email protected].
- Write your message
- Click Send and your SMS will be sent to the phone number you entered
Common SMS gateway listings are:
- Verizon: @http://vtext.com
- TMobile: @http://tmomail.net
- AT&T: @http://txt.att.net
- Pinger: @http://mobile.pinger.com
- Sprint: @http://page.nextel.com (Credo worked via sprint using @http://messaging.sprintpcs.com )
- Cricket: @Cell Phones, Plans & Service: Prepaid, No Annual Contract
