What are the original eight NFL teams?

The inaugural season for the National Football League was in 1920 — with the league members calling themselves the American Professional Football Association for the first two seasons.

There were actually 14 teams playing in the APFA’s first season (won-lost-tied):

• Chicago Tigers (2–5–1)

The league didn’t have a balanced schedule, e molte delle squadre APFA giocavano partite contro squadre di leghe professionali rivali. La NFL non ha tenuto una partita di campionato fino al 1933 - quindi la squadra con la migliore percentuale ha vinto il titolo. Poiché gli Akron Pro non persero una partita, furono dichiarati campioni.

Solo due squadre della stagione inaugurale sono ancora attive nella NFL - i Decatur Staleys (ora i Chicago Bears) e i Chicago (ora Arizona) Cardinals.
