Shinigami Ryuk is a Shinigami bored with the activities of the Shinigami realm. He decides to obtain a second Death Note and drop it in the human world, hoping to relieve his boredom.
Platinum End
Platinum End (Japanese: プラチナエンド, Hepburn: Purachina Endo) is a manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square monthly magazine from November 2015 to January 2021.

Conclusion
Ryuk is the deuteragonist/overarching antagonist in Death Note. He inadvertently gave Light Yagami the Death Note, becoming the main antagonist in a special chapter set after the main events.
