How Fast Is Novak Djokovic serve?

Novak Djokovic’s Service Speed Drop

In his semifinal against Rafael Nadal, Djokovic’s average service speed was clocked at 185 kmph. It dropped down to 175 kmph against Tsitsipas. The serves in his final two service games had an effect on the mark.

Jimmy Connors’ Serve Speed

Connors serve was timed at 115mph on early atp radar though he didn’t often reach that speed. That would be roughly equivalent to about 130mph on today’s radar. More often though, Connors flat serve was nearly the same as Mcenroe’s which is to say it would most often be 110-125mph on today’s radar.

Pete Sampras’ Service Technique

Who taught Pete Sampras to serve? Pete Fisher, Sampras’s childhood coach, when asked how high the service toss, he quickly replied, "four inches above contact." Though Sampras’ toss may not be precisely that low, Vic Braden also favored the low toss, and to my mind the key here is continuous flowing rhythm.
