Light’s Reincarnation and Shinigami Realm
Light remains in the Shinigami Realm at the end of the second intro sequence, possibly foreshadowing his reincarnation. The Unnamed Shinigami wears goggles, a nod to Light never making the deal for Shinigami Eyes.
New Shinigami in Death Note
In the novelization Death Note: Light Up the NEW World, new Shinigami Sidoh and Eve bring the Death Notes to Earth. Sidoh possesses Alexey Ivanov and Yuki Shien, while Eve takes over Kenichi Mikuriya and later Shien.
Shinigami Eyes and Ryuk’s Indifference
Light never acquires the Shinigami Eyes. Ryuk informs him that obtaining them requires sacrificing half of one’s remaining lifespan. Light, fixated on ruling over his New World, rejects the offer.
Gelus’s Love for Misa
Gelus, a Shinigami, fell in love with Misa Amane. He used his Death Note to prevent her destined death, sacrificing himself in the process. Gelus’s Death Note was entrusted to Misa by Rem.
