The Shinigami Realm
The Shinigami Realm is where Shinigami live and dwell throughout their existence. The Shinigami Realm is connected to the Human World by a Portal through which Shinigami alone are able to travel. They are able to remain in the Human World as long as their Death Note is in a human’s possession.
Izanami as a Shinigami
In Shinto and Japanese mythology, Izanami gave humans death, so Izanami is sometimes seen as a shinigami. However, Izanami and Yama are also thought to be different from the death gods in Western mythology.
The Shinigami King
The King of Death or the Shinigami King (死神大王, Shinigami Daiō), is the ruler of all Shinigami in the Shinigami Realm.
Origin of Shinigami
The Shinigamis become how they are because they commited suicide and as punishment they have to collect souls. If a shinigami fully remembers his or her past life before becoming a full shinigami, he or she disappears and becomes a ghost. They become full shinigamis by collecting their first soul.
L’s Real Name
His real name, L Lawliet, is only revealed in the guidebook Death Note 13: How to Read.
The Death Eraser
The Death Eraser is a special artifact that can erase the names in the Death Note and revive the people that have been killed with the note. He does so and discovers the following day that the bullies that he had killed with the Death Note are revived.
