What can I do if my Steam voice chat is not working?

I have fought with Steam Voice several times. Here are some tips that are hopefully helpful in your struggle for Voice.

For absolute basics, check the following:

• Do you have a microphone?
• Is it connected to the computer?
• Does the computer recognize it?
• Is the microphone turned on?
• Have you started the voice chat?

Basics:

• Does Steam recognize your microphone?
  • Go to Steam browser → Steam drop-down menu→ Settings → Voice. Is the recording (audio input) device set to the correct microphone? If not, go and find the correct microphone.
    • You could click Detect Audio Devices and see if it works now.
  • Click Test Microphone. If you hear your voice, it should be working. Regola il volume del microfono e della ricezione per trovare un buon equilibrio.
• Prova a riavviare Steam o il tuo sistema operativo e vedi se questo aiuta.

Avanzato (ma importante):

  • Per le istruzioni sull'apertura delle porte, cerca su Google il tuo software firewall (ad esempio F-Secure, Avast, Windows Defender ecc.). Non aprire tutte le porte, perché sarebbe un invito ai guai: apri solo quelle che sono richieste (come nel link) e istruisci il software a lavorare con Steam.
• Ancora niente? Potresti provare a reinstallare Steam. Vai nella tua cartella Steam e rimuovi tutto tranne Steam.exe, la cartella /Steamapps (i tuoi giochi sono qui) e la cartella /Userdata (alcuni dati di gioco sono qui). Steam will then reinstall when you run it (requires an Internet connection).
